Catch-Up: Easter Weekend at the Cannetière

In France, Easter Monday is a holiday and a day off from work, school, etc., so many families take a long weekend and get out of Paris. Mine did the same, spending the three days at their country house in the Loire Valley, and they invited me to come along with them. It was relaxing and full of great food, and was nice to get out of the city for a few days.

The house is shared with Lucille's (my host mother) sister and her family, who were there for the weekend, too. We all spent some time together during the day, but meals were all separate. A few of their kids are roughly my age, though, so it was nice to have a group of people to hang out with, in addition to Etienne and two of his brothers, Jean-Marie and François.

I had a lot of work due the next week, so it maybe wasn't the best idea to spend the whole weekend canoeing on the little river behind the house, or playing foosball, tennis, and cards, but it all worked out in the end and was a good mini-break before a busy couple of weeks.

Here are some pictures of some of the highlights:

Before and after our Sunday lunch
Afternoon coffee in the yard

The backyard

Chopping wood after a big tree fell during a wind storm a few weeks before

Playing foosball, or baby-foot, in the garage

Canoeing on the river
