Can you spot the cultural difference in the photo above?
If you're thinking, "This is just a normal 1/2 bathroom," then I guess I should have posted a picture of the other bathroom as well -- then it would be clear that this picture is of the washroom (WC or la toilette) only, a completely different room than the salle de bains, which contains the bath/shower and sink with counter space. It is very common here, in homes and hotels, to keep the toilet separate from the rest of the traditional bathroom. While it is a bit annoying at times, it is also nice that when someone takes a shower, for instance, the whole bathroom is not unavailable.
Most of these "cultural differences" posts have been ending with me pointing out the positive side to all of them, realizing that maybe they aren't such crazy differences after all. I wonder if I should be changing the title to "In Which Ways Are Americans Crazy?"
